As City University in London is an institution concerned with preparing students for business and the professions both in the UK and overseas, its courses are designed to meet the needs of the sectors they serve. Students, therefore, have the opportunity to build a professional network (and in many cases to gain work experience from doing a part-time job or work placement). More than 159 different nationalities study at the university, so students have a truly international experience in this truly international city.
The University of Southampton is a member of the prestigious Russell Group of research universities. It has an internationally respected reputation and is regularly ranked in the top 10 research universities in the UK (The Times). With academic roots dating back to the mid-nineteenth century, this impressive record of success is built on strong foundations. The University is ranked 80 in the World University Rankings 2007 (Times Higher Education Supplement).
Southampton is a small and friendly city located on the warm, south coast of England. Its many shops are all in the same central area, which you can easily walk around. This coastal city has a long history and culture. Nearly 100 years ago, the great ship Titanic departed Southampton for New York; Southampton is still a busy port and home to the National Oceanography Centre (which is, in fact, part of the University).
